Flourishes Timeless Tuesday #218

I've been loving the Timeless Tuesday Challenges on the Flourishes blog, so I couldn't wait to check it out tonight. The challenge today is to create with two items from your birth month. Today is my niece Grace's birthday, so I decided to follow her month of April, using 2 patterned papers and a flower stamp :)

I was so happy to go off in a little bit of a different direction with this card. It seems I'm all about flowers, and I usually lean towards pink & red. I have so many Copics in the BG color group that they don't all fit in my holder, so I was determined to put them to good use tonight! 

I used a new set I just got last week from Flourishes, called Spring Blossoms. I stamped my image on XpressIt Blending Card, using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. The Copics I used are:

Blueish flowers: BG10, BG11, BG23, BG49

Daffodils: Y11, Y13, Y15, Y17, Y38

Leaves: YG11, YG13, YG17

I also used Spellbinders Ribbon Tag Trio Two for the label in the middle, with the Color Made Easy paper collection from Flourishes called Emerald Coast. I added some Aqua Mist satin ribbon from Papertrey Ink, half-back pearls & flower from SU!, both colored with Copics, and the designer paper is from the My Mind's Eye Reunion paper pad.

Flourishes Timeless Tuesday - Wedded Bliss

 

Wow, it's been quite a week since I last posted! For starters, my computer bit the dust, so I was in search of a new one...which would be fun, if I weren't so desperate and needing a replacement ASAP! Anyway, I found the computer of my dreams, a Toshiba all-in-one, which means no more wire city under my stamp table! It has Windows 8 (yikes! I'm so confused, but I bought a book that will hopefully take the edge off!). With that set up & ready to go, I could get back to stamping...right up until I wanted to actually post on my blog and needed to crop my photos, time to search for my Photoshop disk & install that. Luckily I found it relatively quickly. So, here we are...

I actually started coloring this image for the Flourishes Wedded Bliss challenge last night, and finally around 9:00 I went upstairs to visit with my hubby. The roses (Roses are Red set by Flourishes) were pink at that point, but I started wishing I had colored them red. Something about white, black & red just screams wedding to me. Hmmm, it was on my mind all night. Good grief, it's just paper, so color another one right?!?! Noooo, instead I thought I'd try coloring over what I already had. Wow it worked!! The first time the roses were colored with R81, R83, & R85, then today I colored over that with R20, R22, R29. Here's what it looked like half way through re-coloring:

 

Then of course I wanted to modify the greens too, yesterday they were YG03, YG05, YG07, and today they are G21, G24, G28 ha!

I also stamped my rose image in Real Red (SU!) on the inside of the card (after stamping off first to give a lighter look), then the Congrats on top in Memento Black ink.

Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge

 

Ooh, fun challenge over on the Flourishes blog today, Frame It! And, baseball practice was cancelled for Nick tonight, so you know I was all over some stamping time to play along :) I used the Tulips for Friends set from Flourishes (again lol). I love this set! The tulips are super easy to color. Plus, the clear stamps make it a snap to position my image right in the center of my die cut. 

I have been trying a different route to card design lately, by picking my dsp first, which is working out so well!  Usually I color what I want then try to find something that I like as a match, oh boy it was taking me forever to come up with anything!! I have to say My Mind's Eye paper pads are ideal, because the coordinating papers are all right there in a neat little 6x6 stack. Today I used the pad called Indie Chic, then built the colors of my tulip vase around three designs of paper. 

I also used Early Espresso Ribbon & card stock, Linen Thread and a button from SU! I stamped & colored my image on X-pressIt Blending Card.

Mojo Monday 289

For today's card I used the Mojo Monday sketch, although I switched it up a little bit to suit my card.

After the horrific events in Boston yesterday (about 30 miles from us), I was thankful for a little bit of quiet time in my stamp room last night. The many tragic events in recent months and years have been unbelievable, and there's something about it hitting so close to home, knowing a co-worker was there waiting for her daughter to finish the race, and not being able to reach her, knowing thousands of people are sick with worry and thousands more are touched by the unthinkable. I did have the news on of course, but just the calm that can come from coloring an image is soothing.

Anyway, for my card I used the Flourishes set Tulips for Friends, which I won in their challenge last month :) It's the perfect set for this time of year. I haven't seen any tulips bloom in my yard yet this year, but we have had freakishly chilly weather too! Let me tell you what a joy my son's baseball games have been lol!!

Flourishes Summer Lovin' Challenge

Woohoo am I ready for summer!! I say that because today was Nick's first day of games for his AAU baseball team, and it was freeeeeeeeeeezing!!!! It was a double header on Cape Cod, right on the ocean, which would be ideal in July...not so much in April! 37 degrees with a wind chill making it feel like 27 is not my idea of a good time! BUT, they did great, Nick hit phenomenal and pitched great too so it was worth it :)

To come home and spot the Flourishes Summer Lovin' Challenge in my toasty warm stamp room was just what the doctor ordered! Immediately I thought of the Wild for Watermelons set by Flourishes. Yum-O! 

Here are the Copic colors I used:

For the watermelon:

You'll notice that on the rind I used the Colorless Blender. This is because for the little section that is the lightest, I had colored it with YG00 first, but I wanted to take some of that color out and make it look like that opaque color you see on a watermelon. 

The papers are from the My Mind's Eye Quilting Bee pad, and the ribbon, button, silver cord and silver brads are SU!. I used a Spellbinders Labels Three die for the center piece, along with some Crystal Effects and Dazzling Diamonds glitter (both SU!) over the watermelon flesh to make it the "one in a melon" piece :)

I'm Raptor Round Your Finger - MFT Sketch Challenge

How cute is this little guy?? I was so happy with the way he turned out, I couldn't help but use him in the MFT guest designer sketch challenge!! I would love to be selected as a guest designer, because I enjoy a challenge, and working under guidelines and the pressure of a deadline make me more creative.

I had a certain 2 year old in mind while coloring this...oh my, my little nephew Jamison is just the sweetest! Whenever my sister & I get together he is on me like glue, mommy can do nothing for him, he only wants Auntie (Which I might add is fine by me, since it's been quite some time since I had a little one yearning for attention from me...ahem, says mother of 13 & 17 year old boys! Don't get me wrong, mine still want me...for money, a ride, clean laundry or food LOL) 

Anyway, this little cutie is from the MFT set called I'm Raptor Round Your Finger. I colored him with copics, and lots of 'em...see below for the specifics:
