Scallop Circle Box Tutorial

Okay, I hope you'll bear in mind that I took pictures as I created this box for the post below *in case* it turned into something I wanted to share...so I hope you get the jist of how I made it clearly enough! If not, just shoot me an email and I'll try to answer any questions. Here goes...

1. The bottom and the top of the box are made from the Scallop Circles #2 die, and you will adhere several layers together to create it...you'll use a piece of dsp, taped to a piece of the cardboard backing from your dsp package, and then another piece of dsp on top. They'll all be 4x4". Then run each "sandwich" of papers through the Big Shot to get your top and bottom of your box.

 

2. Now you're going to create your circular "box" using a piece of dsp that's 2 x 8-3/4", and scored along the long edge at 1/2". Then take your scissors and make little fringes all along the edge, up to the score line like this:

  

3. Now put a strip of sticky strip at one end, and apply adhesive over the fringe...this is the part that will stick to your box bottom. NOTE: You should fold on the score line before adding the adhesive so it's a little easier to fold over once it has adhesive on it.

  

4. Make your long strip into a tube by adhering the ends together at the sticky strip, then push in the fringed bottom and set it on the scallop circle base. You could cut out a circle with your Circle Scissor Plus or Coluzzle to cover the fringes inside the box when you're done.

  

5. Now you're going to make the box top. Use a strip of dsp 1-3/4 x 8-3/4" and score along at 1/2" again and fringe again. Put on your sticky strip and adhesive again also. You want to make sure that it will fit over the box bottom, so wrap it around the box bottom and sticky the sticky strip. As you can see in the picture, I didn't put adhesive on my fringes before sticking the sticky strip and it made it quite tricky, so don't do what I did!!

  

6. Add the other scallop circle as the box top and decorate as desired!
